UTILITY LINE REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT POLICY SEWER LINE When a sewer line is in need of repair, it is the homeowner’s responsibility to repair the sewer line from the residence to the sewer main at the expense of the homeowner. The city maintenance director needs to be contacted prior to the repair and a Gopher One Call needs to be completed according to Minnesota State Law. If the repair is one in which an asphalt street is damaged to reach the main line, the following specifications need to be met when filling the hole on the street: If all the specifications are met to the satisfaction of the city maintenance director inspecting the work, the City of Kennedy will incur the cost of replacing the asphalt and curb on the street. If the hired contractor does not follow the above specifications, the homeowner will incur the costs of applying new asphalt to the street to bring the area to its prior condition. *A copy of this policy will be given to every homeowner prior to the contractor doing the repair. WATER LINE It is the homeowner’s responsibility to incur the cost of a damaged water line if the damage is from the homeowner’s residence to the curb stop. The city will not be held responsible for any damage done to one’s lawn or incur any expense to bring the lawn, including trees, shrubs, etc. back to its previous condition. The city may need to replace a broken curb stop at one’s residence and that is at city expense. Black dirt will be placed in the hole and the area leveled. The city will not incur any additional expense in replacing grass or any type of landscaping element. Approved August 1, 2006 |
